Eliza Rhinelander is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Described by CBC's Tom Power as “one of the most exciting songwriters coming out of the East Coast right now,” she comes from a family with deep Inverness County, Cape Breton roots. In 2024, while still in high school, she released her debut EP Good Old Days, which earned her a nomination for The Coast's Best Songwriter Readers' Choice Award. The next two summers, she composed scores for Shakespeare by the Sea Theatre Company. Both scores—her 1920s jazz-inspired score for Twelfth Night and her folksy, banjo-led score for As You Like It—were nominated for the Outstanding Original Score Merritt Award. In 2025, Eliza released The Precipice, her debut full-length album, to rave reviews. It explores her past, her future and elements of Celtic, indie, country, pop, and rock music, always interwoven with her powerful, original lyrics. She has taken the stage both as a solo act and with her band at festivals and venues in Atlantic Canada and beyond, including Winnipeg Folk Festival, Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, DeCoste Performing Arts Centre, Lighthouse Arts Centre, Inverness County Centre of the Arts, The Carleton (Halifax) and The Ship (St. John’s).
